Wordweb is a fantastic dictionary and thesaurus program that can be installed on any Windows operating system. It includes a library of almost 250,000 words, and you can even choose language variations based on particular countries such as Australia or Canada. This is fast, powerful and intuitive software, and it is completely free.

The interface is clean and easy to use. It looks like a browser, and all you need to do is type a word in the search box. The program also provides customized search options which allow you to limit results to verbs, nouns, adjectives or adverbs. Search results display related words as well. You can also choose to search for definitions and associations within Wordweb or through an outside source such as Wikipedia simply by selecting the appropriate tab.

The software maintains your search history, provides suggestions and allows you to copy text and insert it in documents or other applications. I did not notice a print feature, and there doesn't appear to be a way to access the library to manually add or edit words. There's not much support documentation or tutorials, but the program is really easy to figure out.

The software is only 21MB in size, and it installs easily. You can choose to place an icon on your system tray and desktop. Included preset key combinations eliminate the need to click through menus in order to access various features.

I can't say enough about the options that are included in this software. Wordweb is the perfect resource to help writers, students or anyone else expand their vocabulary. I have been using this program for a couple of months, and I have yet to encounter any problems with freezing or crashes.
